Classic Novels That Are Perfect For a Quick Trip

There’s nothing quite like immersing yourself in the classics, but sometimes you just don’t have time for a deep dive, especially if you’re travelling. Worry not! When on your next road trip and time is limited, these three timeless classics are quick reads and make for perfect road trip companions.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote (160 pages) While many may be familiar with the movie, it certainly differs from the novella in a number of ways. Capote’s writing is nothing short of stunning, and at a mere 160 pages it makes for a minimal investment and the perfect book to bring along on a road trip.

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen (182 pages) Jane Austen’s first novel makes for the perfect road trip read at only 182 pages. The novel tells of a 17-year-old girl’s trials and tribulations as she wades through the world of love. Don’t worry, though, it’s not as melodramatic as it may seem.

The Turn of the Screw by Henry James (96 pages) Rather unlike his other, lengthier works, The Turn of the Screw avoids much of the social commentary James is usually known for, opting instead for a ghost story of sorts. At a mere 96 pages, it makes for a quick read, and the perfect companion for any trip.
